It is with sincere sadness that CFSVA informs you of the passing of Andrew Harrison a brigade officer with the Mt Templeton brigade, who passed away as a result of firefighting operations at Nantawarra on Friday 31st October 2014.
The CFSVA extends our sincerest condolensces to Andrew’s family, members of the Mt Templeton brigade, and the Wakefield Plains group. Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.
The CFS has been in constant communication with the CFSVA since the incident on Friday. The SPAM team was deployed on Friday to provide immediate counselling and support to those impacted by this event.
At this stage the incident has been referred to the Coroner and we await his findings.
The CFSVA is currently satisfied that the CFS and Government have provided all possible assistance and support to Andrew’s family and colleagues.
Under these difficult circumstances respect for the family’s privacy is paramount.
The CFSVA asks all CFS volunteers to respect this privacy and allow Andrew’s family, friends and colleagues to come to terms with their significant loss, with the reassurance that the wider CFS family is there to comfort and support them.
